A web designer works on developing and designing various elements and products for websites and other internet programmes. This involves working with colours and their interplay, as well as different graphics, animations, sounds, videos, and other elements that can be included on a website and in other programmes.
A web designer is responsible for developing the design and layout, implementing these new changes, and finally introducing the client to the new product. If you are a trained web designer, you need knowledge and skills in many different areas. For example, you can work with a focus on computer programming and graphics, with expertise in various genres. This is primarily in the entertainment industry, where you work on projects such as different types of films, computer games, TV series, as well as websites and advertisements, music videos, and even the visualisation of scientific articles and reports. A growing field for web designers includes videos from bloggers and programmes on the website YouTube.
A web designer can work for a company that develops websites and other programmes. Here, they collaborate with other types of IT professionals to create a product often for an external client. They can also work in various communication and marketing agencies, performing similar tasks. However, the web designer primarily works with the layout and optimisation of existing or new websites. They can also work as a web designer in public institutions – for example, within different municipalities. Alternatively, they can work with more advanced web design and graphics in companies that develop computer games and similar programmes.
