An accountant is also known as an accounting clerk. When working with an accountant or an accounting clerk, you are referred to as an accounting assistant.
An accountant performs accounting work for a company. Some companies have their own accountant, while smaller companies use an external accountant who works in an accounting firm or a bookkeeping company. Most production companies and larger businesses have their own accountant because there are always numbers, accounts, and budgets that need to be monitored. The accountant is usually part of a finance department. The accountant handles tasks related to monitoring expenses, income, taxes, donations, and similar matters, as well as product and sales revenue. Additionally, the accountant keeps track of other financial assets the company may have, such as inventory and buildings.
Accountants work in all larger companies. They can work individually on the company's accounts or be part of a finance or accounting department. Additionally, they can work in accounting or bookkeeping firms where they assist other companies, organizations, associations, and self-employed individuals. For example, they help farmers with their accounts and then approve them.
